Hi Folks. This is my first posting. I am currently Rankins(less). I have a Leopard Gecko which is very very laid back. Therefore I am in need of something more lively. I've no room for a Beardie and have been checking out the smaller Rankins recently, via websites.

Since Leos need a moist hide (preferably) to aid in the shedding process, I've checked out a couple of care sheets for Rankins and there is no mention of a moist hide for shedding. So, it would be very useful for me to know how they usually shed? If they do not need a moist hide, it sounds alot simpler than owning a Leo (in my case).

Hi Eddie & welcome to the forum.
Well, you want to know about rankins shedding, they just do it, but not all in one go like a leo, i had leo's in the past & it is great if you ever get to see this, my mack snow did shed in the front of the viv, so i was able to watch it from beginning to end. The shed comes off in small bits, sometimes over a week or more, but i had one rankins that took much longer to do it completely, more like a 3/4 weeks. No, you wont need a moist hide, or anything to aid them in their shed either.

Hope this is of some help to you.

Marg.
