Post a farewell tribute to a much loved pet.

This is our second loss in just over 2 weeks (see the post for Stacey in this forum).
A few hours ago Half and Half, one of our Rankins Dragons, passed away after a prolonged illness. For the past few years Half and Half seemed to have one illness after another. We would get him well and then he would succumb to something else.
Today I took him to the vet because he looked a little dehydrated and needed some fluids. The vet also gave him some antibiotics. He seemed a little brighter when we got him home but I think his poor little body was just tired and he couldn't fight any more.
We've lost a few over the years but each one is as painful as the first.
"To wipe away the tears
No more pain, no fear
No sorrow or dying
No waiting or crying
These former things have passed away
Another life begins today"
Sleep well little one. You fought long and hard and it's time to rest. We miss you so much.

So sorry to hear you have lost 2 of your beloved friends so close together.
I know you did everything you could to give them a happy life.
Rest in peace Stacey and Half and Half.
I too am grieving after losing my father-in-law very suddenly 3 weeks ago.
He was a lovely smiley man who my children adored.

Thank you Terri.
The loss of Stacey, in particular, hit us very hard. It was so totally unexpected and she showed no signs of being ill. Poor little Half and Half seemed to have a compromised immune system but he was a fighter and always seemed to get over his illnesses. In a way, we sort of expected him to pass at some point but no matter how prepared you think you are it is still a gut-wrench.
I am so very sorry to hear of your loss, especially as it was so sudden.
My thoughts and condolences are with you and your family at this time.

It is so hard when you lose somebody who you are very fond of. Stacey sounds like a precious little lady.
Half and Half must have been a strong little guy to have battled so many problems.
I still cry for Button especially when I hear the song 'Run' by Snow Patrol.
It was playing on the radio on the was back from the vets on the evening we lost him.
He was such a special little guy. Solar and Lunar have had a huge hole to fill.
Hope you are all ok
